In the music of Spinifex, extremely tight irregular structures are contrasted with extensive free improvisations.
The typical basic ingredients of Spinifex are forceful grooves, intense improvisation, virtuoso solos, psycho-rhythms and extreme dynamics. The line-up features an explosive combination of musicians, all of whom have individually made name in Europe and abroad. Spinifex has performed at important festivals like Music Meeting (Nijmegen), Mundial (Tilburg), Red Sound (Rotterdam), Mediawave (Hungary), Pera Fest (Turkey), Fireflies Festival (India) and Jazz im Goethe Garten (Portugal).
For the tour in october 2013, Spinifex will be joined by the Polish trumpet player Piotr Damasiewicz. He is a rising star as an improviser, composer and band leader; in 2013 he has performed at major European jazz festivals like Banieues Bleues (F), North Sea Jazz Festival (NL), Molde Jazz Festival (NO) and Manchester Jazz Festival (GB).

Spinifex co-founder Tobias Klein is an alto saxophonist, bass clarinettist and composer. His focus lies mainly on improvised music and contemporary jazz, enriched by his studies of contemporary composed music, live-electronics and techniques derived from African, Eastern European and Asian music.

Next to being a very creative jazz drummer, Philipp Moser is also the best metal drummer in the Netherlands. He has toured extensively with the well-known avant-garde metal band Cilice.

Jasper Stadhouders is an active member of the international improvised music circuit. He is a co-founder of the band Cactus Truck and the Stadhouders/Govaert/De Joode Trio and works as a sideman in various groups next to playing countless of ad hoc improv shows.

Portuguese bass virtuoso, composer and visual artist Gonçalo Almeida has worked in a variety of projects that range from modern jazz, freejazz to jazzcore. He has made a name with his bands Lama, Albatre and Heinz Karlhausen & The Diatonics.
